Hi, I’m Eloise

I’m an author, existential therapist, teacher, model, and the founder of two businesses: The Purpose Workshop and One Typical Day.

I was born in East London, studied at Cambridge and trained at Oxford. I started in corporate law, spent a year in a monastic community(!) and now focus on existentialism, education and social mobility. You can read more about my background here.

I sit on the youth board of the UK’s national social mobility charity, and I’m an Enterprise Advisor for the Mayor of London’s education & careers strategy.

I write for publications like Entrepreneur, Business Insider, Management Today, Harvard Divinity School, Harvard Kennedy School, AllBright and Charity Times, and I’ve been interviewed for places like Vogue, The New York Times, The Sunday Times, Forbes, Fortune, The Telegraph, The Washington Post, Refinery29, Glamour, GQ, Metro, Stylist, Marie Claire and Inc. Magazine. I’ve collaborated with and modelled for brands like The Times, Reebok, Bloch, Psycle, Puma Women, Asics, eBay, Smirnoff, Tesco, O2, Royal Academy of Arts, BBC Earth, Fenty Beauty, English National Ballet and Sweaty Betty.

My first TEDx talk, at Cambridge University, focused on meaning, purpose & wellbeing.

I’ve had the privilege of receiving a range of awards & recognition, including as ‘One To Watch’ in Forbes, and as a ‘Social Entrepreneur To Watch’ by the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

I’m focused on a range of things, but in particular:

Existentialism

I’m driven by the idea of a full, meaningful life. My psychotherapeutic training is in Existential Analysis and Clinical Logotherapy, and I write frequently on the topic of meaning. My newest book, ‘But Are You Alive?’ explores these themes in a practical, accessible way.

Education

I’m passionate about the future of education, and the transformative impact of technology in the field. As well as consultancy and mentoring, I run two businesses focused on education, The Purpose Workshop and One Typical Day. I also teach across the fitness industry (more here).

Impact

I have over a decade of experience in the social impact space, particularly in education and social mobility. Find out more here, for my personal work. Find out more here and here, for the social impact missions behind my businesses.
